General Terms and Conditions of Purchase
Ticket liability
Once payment for your purchase order has been processed, you will immediately receive a voucher by email (which is a copy of your purchase order with the identification number). Customers must check the data and products contained in the order(s) – quantity, description, values, dates and names – upon receipt and, in the event of any discrepancy, urgently contact the Customer Service Center by email. The Buyer will also receive, within 2 business days after confirmation of payment for the order, an email with instructions for delivering the ticket.
Orders received must be exchanged for physical or digital tickets, on dates close to the event, according to the method determined by the event organizer. The ticket type will be informed in the purchase confirmation email, as well as all instructions for receiving your tickets. If the customer does not complete the online procedure required to send the digital ticket, or misses the deadline determined by Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, he/she will not be able to receive the ticket and will not be subject to any type of refund. The customer must report any discrepancy between the digital ticket received within 24 hours after receiving the ticket.
Tickets are not nominal. Once in the possession of customers, delivered via online application or physically collected at the delivery points determined by Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, they are the sole responsibility of customers, and cannot be replaced in case of theft, loss, damage or misplacement. No refunds will be given in any of these circumstances.
For security reasons, tickets will be delivered to the purchaser or to third parties, provided that they are approved in advance by Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour. To collect tickets at our delivery point, it is MANDATORY to present the original identification document with photo of the PURCHASER HOLDER, AND THE PHYSICAL CREDIT CARD USED IN THE PURCHASE. Printed copies, digital copies, photocopies, photographs, scans, clippings or any other format other than physical and original copies of the aforementioned documents will not be accepted. These requirements were established for your own security and are essential for the delivery of tickets.
Collection by Third Parties: Tickets may be collected by third parties, provided that our agents are notified in advance by email. Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour agents will inform you of the mandatory documents that must be sent and analyzed in advance. Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour will analyze the documentation and may or may not approve delivery to third parties if the documentation sent is incomplete or incorrect. VIP tickets cannot be authorized for collection by third parties in the case of payment by card.
We reserve the right to photograph the requested documents, keeping the security code of the credit card used private, for later proof of purchase with the credit card operators, if necessary. Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour reserves the right to request any additional documentation from customers for purposes of proof of purchase. In the event of failure to present the requested documents, we reserve the right to cancel the purchase.
Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour cannot take into account unanswered communications and requests, whether by email, chat or any other service channel. If the customer does not respond, we reserve the right to cancel and resell the purchased items, as well as interrupt the delivery service, and no refund will be applied.
Ticket availability may change at any time up to 14 days before the event, which is why we reserve the right to cancel any item purchased up to 2 weeks before the date of the ticket. Although unlikely, in such cases, Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour will, whenever possible, offer free upgrades or a full refund for all canceled items. In this case, the refund will be made in the same amount, currency and payment method used at the time of purchase.
Tickets for the boxes, grandstands in sector 9 and numbered seats are determined by lottery. The ticket buyer will only be informed of the exact location when collecting the ticket. We cannot provide or guarantee a specific location.
Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour requires all customers to sign a receipt or email confirmation upon receipt of tickets and/or costumes. Only the purchaser may sign the credit authorization receipt or, if the purchaser has authorized delivery to a third party, the procedure for Delivery to a Third Party must be followed.
General Conditions of Purchase and Cancellation
As provided for in Brazilian Law, cancellations made within 7 calendar days from the date of purchase are eligible for a refund/return, provided that the cancellation is made within 48 hours before the date of the event. After 7 days from the date of purchase, no refund/return of the amount paid for your product or service is eligible. Purchases made within 48 hours or less of the date of the event will not be eligible for cancellation under any circumstances.
The cancellation and/or refund request must always be made in writing by the purchaser, via email to [email protected]. Our call center will respond to cancellation requests within 3 (three) business days after the request has been formalized at the email address provided above. Once approved, the refund will be made using the same payment method used for the purchase, within 30 (business) days, counting from the approval of the refund, which will be sent by email.
For payments made by credit card, the refund may appear on your card statement within three invoices. This period is independent of Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, as it is a result of the internal procedures of the credit card administrator used.
If the Carnival Parade is postponed for any reason, we will not refund the amount paid, we will only transfer the ticket to the new date set by the event organizers. Tickets for the new dates will respect the original purchase. New vouchers will be issued within 30 days after the postponement announcement.
Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, as an authorized travel agent, is not responsible for delays or even cancellations of the event, in part or in full, that are beyond our control, or that include, but are not limited to: adverse weather conditions such as rain, storms, floods or traffic jams, strikes, accidents, fires, flight delays, interruption of avenues or access roads, airport closures or similar events.
No refund will be given in the event of delays or suspension of the samba school parade, resulting from an extraordinary or unforeseeable situation beyond the control of the organizers, or resulting from a determination by administrative, governmental or judicial authorities. Specific exceptional cases will be governed in accordance with the form provided for by current legislation.
The value of packages and/or tickets will not be refunded in the event of withdrawal of participation by samba schools or even cancellation of the event by authorities or by LIESA and LIERJ themselves. No refund will be given, under any circumstances, if the client does not attend the event for the reasons mentioned above or for any other reasons.
All prices displayed on our websites are per person, in Real (Brazilian currency) and are subject to change without prior notice, whether due to exchange rate changes, special promotions, rate changes or increased operating costs, until full payment is made and received by Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour.
Ticket prices may vary as a result of negotiations and pre-purchases with suppliers. Under no circumstances will a refund be given for part or all of the purchase made, outside of the cancellation and refund rules described above. No refund will be given under any circumstances if the online prices on a specific date are lower than the prices paid for a specific product or service.
Various forms of payment are accepted, in accordance with the commercial negotiation disclosed on the website. Payments made by credit card will be subject to approval of the transaction and confirmation of receipt by the company managing the credit card used and/or by the customer's banking institution. Payments made by bank deposit, electronic transfer or PIX are always made in cash and may take up to 3 business days to be confirmed, approved and processed.
Electronic Commerce (Security for Credit/Debit Card Transactions): The privacy of our customers’ credit cards is our main concern. When purchasing our services on our server – ticket packages, transfers, tours, costumes – the data will be protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. This technology uses advanced encryption tools to protect the information transmitted between the means of purchase, such as a computer or cell phone, and our servers. Through encryption, the personal information entered – including name, address and card information used – is converted into codes, while customers browse the Internet securely.
Tickets are purchased by Rio Carnaval Tickets through a request letter from an agency registered with ABAV (Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies) in Rio de Janeiro regarding the specific demand made at our points of sale.
About Children under 5 years old at the Sambadrome – Children under 5 years old CANNOT enter the Sambadrome, by order of the Rio de Janeiro courts, even if accompanied by their parents and/or legal guardians and carrying tickets. Entry to the event will not be permitted under any circumstances. No refund will be given under any circumstances, for ticket packages or transfers, for the minor or companions, in the event of the impossibility of using the ticket and consequently accessing the event for the reason mentioned above.
Special conditions for home delivery – Delivery Service
You can opt for a special delivery service for tourist areas within the city of Rio de Janeiro. In this case, a fee will be charged. The special delivery service must be scheduled in advance, with the delivery time and address.
Special delivery service may only wait 10 minutes after arrival to obtain the purchaser’s signature. If delivery fails because the receipt is not signed by the person the purchaser indicated, or for any reason (e.g., the person is unavailable or not at the address, is late, does not have acceptable identification, refuses to sign for the delivery, or the address provided is incorrect or unidentifiable), tickets will be returned to the Customer Service Center in Copacabana, where they will be available on the date of the event for collection until 6:00 p.m. local time. Refunds will not be applied for such tickets not collected for any reason.
Special conditions – Purchase of Costumes
Costumes purchased for Rio Carnival are NOT refundable. Carnival costumes are custom-made, therefore, cancellations will not be accepted for any reason. None of the costumes purchased by email or through our website are refundable under any circumstances. The participant must present themselves to the person in charge of their Wing at the Samba School Meeting 2 hours in advance, at the place and time that will be informed to the customer by email.
Costume measurements – We are not responsible for any misunderstanding or incorrect information related to the measurements received by customers.
Costumes are an important part of the parade and count towards points for the school in the competition, so they cannot be altered, altered, or missing any part or accessory. Participants cannot have any objects on display, such as clothes that do not match the costume, fanny packs, purses, backpacks, cameras, among other objects, under penalty of being prevented from parading by the school's authorities. No refunds will be given in these circumstances.
The samba schools reserve the right to make modifications to the model/prototype for commercial dissemination. No refunds will be given under these circumstances.
Costume Delivery: The costume will be delivered and must be personally confirmed by the customer upon delivery, at their hotel, on a pre-arranged date and time. The special delivery service may only wait 10 minutes after the scheduled time, to wait for the buyer who is absent. If delivery fails for any reason (for example, the buyer is not available or is not at the address, does not have identification, refuses to sign for the delivery or the address provided is incorrect or unidentifiable), the costume buyer must contact Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour to schedule a new delivery, if possible, with an additional cost of R$$ 200 to be paid by the buyer in advance of the new scheduled date.
Special conditions – Transfer Service to the Sambadrome
About Transfer: Our transfer service only serves the odd-numbered sides of the Sambadrome (3, 5, 7, 9 and 11). The transfer guides will stop at the hotel lobby/reception or meeting point at the time scheduled in the reservation. It is not the guide's responsibility to call the clients at their apartments. We always recommend that you arrive at the hotel lobby/reception or meeting point at least 10 minutes in advance. Since the transfer is divided into routes, it may be delayed, but always within the margin, without affecting the arrival time. You must have your voucher/purchase receipt in hand. You will receive a wristband from the guide, for your identification when using our service. Keep the wristband on your wrist at all times until you return to the hotel. You will not be able to board the bus back without the identification wristband. In case of cancellation or failure to appear at the time and place indicated, this amount is non-refundable and will not be paid.
The transfer service is shared in a group, it is not a private service. Transportation is by van, minibus or bus. The transfer service does not include the entrance ticket to the event. Before boarding the bus, make sure you have your ticket in hand. It is not permitted to bring parade costumes. Unfortunately, we cannot transport wheelchair users, as we do not have the necessary infrastructure to do so.
Return: the transfer leaves immediately after the end of each samba school parade, from the second school to the last, and will take you to the same hotel where you boarded. Inside the Sambadrome, go to the meeting point previously agreed with the transfer guide and follow the instructions. Our meeting point is SECTOR 9. Keep in mind that the transfers that leave after the last school parade, which are more crowded, leave up to 30 minutes after the parade ends. We suggest that, if you wish to stay until the end, you go immediately to the transfer meeting point as soon as the parade passes through your sector. The transfer does not wait and is not responsible for those who miss the final time, 30 minutes after the end. No refund will be given under any circumstances if the client does not follow the instructions given in this term or misses the transfer times.
Special conditions – Travel packages, accommodation and tourist services
Full payment must be made 100% prior to check-in date or service completion. Confirmations and vouchers will only be valid after full payment has been received. All reservations are subject to change in price and availability until paid in full. Hotel vouchers will only be issued after full payment has been received.
Changes and cancellations of travel packages and tourist services: If the customer needs to change their travel plans after booking, certain restrictions may apply. Cancellations are non-refundable, subject to the conditions of the Consumer Protection Code. Rebooking policies may vary according to the hotel and/or the company providing the service. Changes may be subject to additional charges according to the policies of the hotels and other service providers involved. As provided for in Brazilian Law, cancellations made within 7 calendar days from the date of purchase are eligible for a refund/return, provided that the cancellation is made within 48 hours before the date of the event. After 7 days from the date of purchase, the amount paid for the product or service is not eligible for a refund/return. Purchases made 48 hours or less before the event will not be eligible for cancellation under any circumstances.
Liability: Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour act only as agents for the passengers in all matters relating to travel. There is no liability for any loss, damage or delay to persons or property, or in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, perils at sea, fires in machinery or breakdown of equipment, disease, epidemics, medical or customs regulations, theft, industrial disputes, strikes, riots, robberies, government restrictions, hostilities, civil disturbances, acts of terrorism of any kind, war declared or undeclared, insufficiency or inadequacy of issued passports and/or visas and other documents, or from any other causes beyond the control of Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour.
Final provisions
All disputes and matters shall be processed in litigation, if necessary, and before a court located in Rio de Janeiro, excluding the courts of any other city, municipality or state. By issuing and purchasing tickets and/or other items relating to services provided by Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, you are deemed to have accepted the above terms.
By purchasing any carnival item from Rio Carnaval Tickets / Rio Alternative Tour, the customer accepts these Terms and Conditions of Sale.
